      ExternalsPresetValue type

      How an externals preset is enabled.

      true mounts the preset's libraries synchronously. The { async: true } object form mounts them asynchronously (as Promises), for the web target where external bundles are loaded via fetchBundle().then — see ExternalObject.async.
